CASA SYSTEMS' C2200 WIDEBAND CMTS  EARNS EURODOCSIS 2.0 QUALIFICATION:
The only qualified CMTS platform on the market today that can be firmware
upgraded to support all major DOCSIS 3.0 features
.

Andover, MA (April 3, 2007) - Casa Systems, Inc., the company that continues to revolutionize cable edge device cost performance, today announced  EuroDOCSIS 2.0 (A-TDMA) qualification for it C2200 CMTS (cable modem termination system), affirming its support of EuroCableLabs performance and interoperability standards.

Unlike today’s legacy CMTS options, Casa’s C2200 offers complete flexibility in downstream and upstream channel ratio, and extremely high downstream channel capacity, by leveraging separate downstream and upstream linecards. The C2200’s upgradeable software currently enables downstream channel bonding of up to 16 channels.

“We’ve cleared a very significant hurdle with EuroDOCSIS 2.0 qualification, validating a tremendous new market opportunity for Casa and delivering another important market breakthrough enabled by our dramatically different architecture and chip technology,” said Jerry Guo, President and CEO of Casa Systems. “While we’re in pursuit of DOCSIS 3.0 qualification, our EuroDOCSIS 2.0 solution will enable customers to transition to DOCSIS 3.0 more easily and affordably.”

Operators can deploy the C2200 today as a DOCSIS 2.0 CMTS for significant cost savings, or as a pre-DOCSIS 3.0 CMTS with advanced channel bonding features that is future-proofed with a simple firmware upgrade path to support new DOCSIS 3.0 features and DOCSIS 3.0 modems.”

A single Casa C2200 CMTS chassis supports:

  1. Separate 16-channel downstream linecards and 8-channel upstream linecards, providing single-chassis configurations up to 32 downstream channels and 16 upstream channels; 48 downstream channels and 8 upstream channels; or 16 downstream channels and 24 upstream channels
  2. Channel bonding up to 16 downstream channels and 8 upstream channels
  3. RF channel sharing among DOCSIS and MPEG video traffic
