CASA SYSTEMS' C3200 & C2200 CMTS  EARN FULL DOCSIS 3.0 QUALIFICATION:
The only fully qualified CMTS platforms on the market today that support all DOCSIS 3.0 features;  Casa Announces General availability of the C3200 CMTS

Andover, MA (May 9, 2008) - Casa Systems, Inc., the leader in next generation cable edge technology, today announced that the C3200 & C2200 cable modem termination systems (CMTS) have earned Full (Gold level) CableLabs DOCSIS 3.0 qualification. The headends were tested under a tiered program that creates three different qualification levels: Bronze, Silver, and Full (Gold) corresponding to increasing levels of feature sets.  The C3200 & C2200 were the first and only CMTS's to be awarded full gold level status.  Full qualification includes both upstream and downstream channel bonding, as well as AES encryption, and IPv6 for cable modems.

"This is a major milestone for Casa Systems, as well as for the entire cable industry." said Jerry Guo, CEO of Casa Systems.  “For the first time, cable operators can now deploy advanced broadband data services that their residential and business customers demand, with full confidence that the equipment will interoperate fully with DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems yet to be deployed, and without fear of being burdened with future hardware upgrades to achieve the full DOCSIS 3.0 feature set.”

By meeting the requirements for gold level qualification, the Casa Systems CMTS's allows for the rapid provisioning of ultra-high bandwidth data services, providing the multi-system operator (MSO) with a stepping stone that allows them to increase the bandwidth per customer as needed, potentially years into the future, while significantly reducing capital and operational expenses today. Channel bonding can be increased from as few as 2 channels, to up to 16 channels, at any time, with the C3200 & C2200.  This provides the potential to deliver over 800 Mbits/sec bandwidth to a single cable modem.  Casa Systems’ C3200 & C2200 make the move to high bandwidth DOCSIS 3.0 data services yet easier by providing the MSO with variable downstream to upstream channel ratios, while keeping all data processing, modulation, and up/down conversion in a single chassis.

Casa Systems Announces General Availability of the C3200 DOCSIS 3.0 CMTS
After earning full DOCSIS 3.0 certification from CableLabs, as well as completing successful field deployments, Casa Systems today announced the immediate availability of the C3200 CMTS, the industry's first gold level qualified CMTS that complies with the full DOCSIS 3.0 specification.  Based on Casa's proven C2200 technology, the C3200 has the most extensive & stable DOCSIS 3.0 feature set on the market today.  As a third generation CMTS, the C3200 has several unique capabilities beyond DOCSIS 3.0.  First, the C3200 supports complete separation of downstream and upstream channel capacity in a single physical chassis and thus provides flexible downstream to upstream channel ratios. Second, the C3200 has significantly higher channel density than a second generation CMTS. The C3200 can support up to 80 downstream QAM channels in 3RU while the second generation CMTS has far fewer channels in 12-14 RU.  Third, the C3200 can support both DOCSIS and MPEG/DVB traffic in a single platform. This unique feature is very important for cable operators to manage their HFC spectral resources in a single device.

“At a price per IP video stream an order of magnitude lower than the traditional CMTS, the C3200 is the first product that enables MSOs to deploy video-over-IP economically and competitively relative to video-over-MPEG,” stated Jerry Guo. “Even if MSOs are not ready to switch to video-over-IP today, deploying the C3200 for video-over-MPEG will give MSOs the assurance that their investment is protected if they decide to migrate to IP in the future.”

Exceptional RF Performance
The C3200 & C2200 were also tested and qualified against the
CableLabs Downstream RF Interface (DRFI) specification.  This specification provides a rigorous set of requirements for new multi-channel QAM devices, to ensure high density upconverters do not interfere with other channels in the MSO’s hybrid fiber coax (HFC) plant.  The C3200 & C2200 can transmit up to 4 QAM channels on a single RF port, and provides an extended frequency range, up to 1Ghz.
