Press Release CASA SYSTEMS' C10000 CMTS EARNS FULL DOCSIS 3.0
& PacketCable 1.5 QUALIFICATION: Casa extends its
leadership position with its third fully qualified CMTS platform,
and remains the only vendor that complies with all DOCSIS 3.0
features.
Andover, MA
(December 12, 2008)
-
Casa Systems,
Inc., the leader in next generation cable edge technology, today
announced that the C10000 cable modem termination systems (CMTS)
has earned Full ("Gold level") CableLabs
DOCSIS
3.0 qualification, as well as PacketCable 1.5 qualification. The headends
were tested under a tiered program that creates three different
qualification levels: Bronze, Silver, and Full (Gold)
corresponding to increasing levels of feature sets. With its
earlier product platforms, the C3200 & C2200, Casa Systems was the
first and only vendor in the world to earn the "Full"
qualification status. With this latest achievement, Casa
extends its leadership position, adding a third product platform,
the C10000, to its portfolio of Full DOCSIS 3.0 compliant systems. Full qualification includes both upstream and
downstream channel bonding, as well as AES encryption, and IPv6
for cable modems. The C10000 is the only carrier class
platform on the market which is Full DOCSIS 3.0 Compliant.
It features full hardware redundancy, and hitless switchover to
standby modules.
"This is a major milestone for Casa Systems, as well as for the
entire cable industry." said Jerry Guo, CEO of Casa Systems. “For
the first time, cable operators can now deploy advanced broadband
data services that their residential and business customers
demand, with full confidence that the equipment will interoperate
fully with DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems yet to be deployed, and without
fear of being burdened with future hardware upgrades to achieve
the full DOCSIS 3.0 feature set.”
By meeting the requirements for gold level qualification, the Casa
Systems CMTS's allows for the rapid provisioning of ultra-high
bandwidth data services, providing the multi-system operator (MSO)
with a stepping stone that allows them to increase the bandwidth
per customer as needed, potentially years into the future, while
significantly reducing capital and operational expenses today.
Channel bonding can be increased from as few as 2 channels, to up
to 16 channels, at any time, with the C10000. This provides the
potential to deliver over 800 Mbits/sec bandwidth to a single
cable modem. Casa Systems’ C10000 makes the move to high bandwidth DOCSIS 3.0 data services yet easier by providing the MSO with
variable downstream to upstream channel ratios, while keeping all
data processing, modulation, and up/down conversion in a single
chassis.
CableLabs
Downstream RF Interface (DRFI) specification. This specification
provides a rigorous set of requirements for new multi-channel QAM
devices, to ensure high density upconverters do not interfere with
other channels in the MSO’s hybrid fiber coax (HFC) plant. The
C10000 can transmit up to 4 QAM channels on a single RF port, and
provides an extended frequency range, up to 1Ghz.
