Casa’s disruptive
technology unifies the functionalities for video-over-MPEG and
video-over-IP into a single platform at a cost level unimaginable with
previous technologies. This unification provides a single management
point for HFC spectrum resources for all digital services and a seamless
migration path from one architecture to another without a costly fork-lift upgrade.
Casa Systems' products
provides all
the functional components needed in deploying digital broadcast, digital
simulcast, switched digital video, and unicast services.
Casa Systems’ first
line of products – the C2000 Digital Cable Termination Systems (DCTS) –
provides five categories of functionalities:
-
MPEG Edge-QAM:
The DCTS performs traditional edge functionalities such as
conditional access encryption and QAM modulation. However, the DCTS has dramatically
increased the density and reduced the cost compared to traditional
Edge-QAM.
-
Video-over-IP:
The Casa DCTS provides a flexible and complete DOCSIS 3.0 implementation at a
cost which will make video-over-IP an economically viable solution
today. The DCTS implements a hierarchical QoS scheme to allow sharing
of the RF spectrum between MPEG traffic and IP traffic with guaranteed
bandwidth and jitter.
-
Video Switching
and Grooming: The DCTS performs MPEG stream processing, MPEG
switching, de-multiplexing and re-multiplexing.
-
Transrating &
Statistical Multiplexing:
The DCTS offers
statistical multiplexing of VBR traffic and intelligent trans-rating.
This allows the operator to control the bit-rate change from input to
output to achieve optimal bandwidth utilization with minimal image
quality degradation and low latency.
-
Digital Program
Insertion:
The DCTS
provides standards-based splicing compatible with all leading digital
ad server offerings. Built-in high capacity switching provides
targeted local ad insertion in a much finer granularity than available
with other systems in its category, thus giving the service providers
added revenue generating capability.
